Social Scientist
Dr Carolina Cambre is an Associate Professor in the department of Education, Concordia University, Montréal. She explores vernacular visual expression asking: How do people produce and direct the visual space? What are the social and cultural work/ings of images?
She works through visual sociology, sociology of information, image studies, and politics of representation. Her projects explore the visual processes of legitimation, representation of online sharing, and polymedia literacies. She is the author of: The Semiotics of CheGuevara: Affective gateways (2015/16), and co-author of Toward a Sociology of Selfies: The Filtered Face (2023, Routledge UK) with Christine Lavrence.
